 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Each year, the most accomplished students are named
 as valedictorians and salutatorians of their respective schools,
 and a group of outstanding young men and women in the Rio Grande
 Valley have earned this prestigious honor as members of the Class of
 2017; and
 WHEREAS, The Rio Grande Valley Partnership recognized the top
 two graduating seniors from every high school in the region at its
 28th annual Valley Proud Honors Banquet on May 22, 2017; a total of
 113 students were commended for their scholastic excellence, and a
 number of these talented young people will be selected to receive
 scholarships to help further their higher education goals; and
 WHEREAS, Achieving the title of valedictorian or
 salutatorian requires not only intellect and aptitude, but also
 four years of dedication to the highest academic standards; in
 securing their place at the top of their class, these students
 demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range of subjects,
 and the rewards of the countless hours they devoted to their studies
 are myriad; and
 WHEREAS, The valedictorians and salutatorians of the Rio
 Grande Valley represent the future of the Lone Star State, and they
 may reflect with great pride on their many accomplishments as they
 embark on the next exciting chapter of their lives; now, therefore,
 be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby honor the valedictorians and salutatorians of
 the Class of 2017 at Rio Grande Valley high schools and extend to
 each of them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the Rio Grande Valley Partnership as an expression of
 high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
