45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
67 memories of Ernestine Holt Bridges of Mesquite, who passed away on
78 May 20, 2017, at the age of 81; and
89 WHEREAS, The daughter of Ernest and Hattie Dee Holt, the
910 former Ernestine Holt was born in Blytheville, Arkansas, on August
1011 25, 1935, and grew up with the company of two brothers, Jack and
1112 Robert; in 1971, she was joined in matrimony to Louis E. Bridges
1213 Jr., with whom she enjoyed more than 45 years of marriage; the proud
1314 mother of four children, Martin, Nina, Jennifer, and John, she was
1415 blessed later in life with five grandchildren, Traci, Alexis, Ben,
1516 Beth, and Noah; and
1617 WHEREAS, Deeply engaged in her community, Mrs. Bridges was a
1718 Dallas County election judge for more than 20 years, and she served
1819 several terms as president of the PTA; a strong supporter of the
1920 Republican Party, she took on several leadership roles with the
2021 Mesquite Republican Women's Club and held the office of district
2122 director of the Texas Federation of Republican Women; in 2002, she
2223 was named Citizen of the Year by the City of Mesquite, and in 2013,
2324 she was recognized as Volunteer of the Year by the Dallas County
2425 Republican Party; and
2526 WHEREAS, A prominent member of the congregation at Sunnyvale
2627 First Baptist Church, Mrs. Bridges especially enjoyed teaching
2728 Bible verses to young people and greeting the children in the
2829 nursery on Sunday mornings, and she was active in the Awana youth
2930 ministry program; and
3031 WHEREAS, Ernestine Bridges lived a rich and purposeful life
3132 devoted to her family, her community, and her faith, and she leaves
3233 behind a legacy of service to others that will forever inspire all
3334 those who knew and loved her; now, therefore, be it
3435 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
3536 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Ernestine Holt
3637 Bridges and extend heartfelt sympathy to her relatives and her many
3738 friends; and, be it further
3839 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3940 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4041 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ernestine
4142 Bridges.
