| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their |

| 6 | 7 | | memories of Ernestine Holt Bridges of Mesquite, who passed away on |

| 7 | 8 | | May 20, 2017, at the age of 81; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Ernest and Hattie Dee Holt, the |

| 9 | 10 | | former Ernestine Holt was born in Blytheville, Arkansas, on August |

| 10 | 11 | | 25, 1935, and grew up with the company of two brothers, Jack and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Robert; in 1971, she was joined in matrimony to Louis E. Bridges |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Jr., with whom she enjoyed more than 45 years of marriage; the proud |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | mother of four children, Martin, Nina, Jennifer, and John, she was |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | blessed later in life with five grandchildren, Traci, Alexis, Ben, |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Beth, and Noah; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Deeply engaged in her community, Mrs. Bridges was a |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Dallas County election judge for more than 20 years, and she served |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | several terms as president of the PTA; a strong supporter of the |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Republican Party, she took on several leadership roles with the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Mesquite Republican Women's Club and held the office of district |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | director of the Texas Federation of Republican Women; in 2002, she |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | was named Citizen of the Year by the City of Mesquite, and in 2013, |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | she was recognized as Volunteer of the Year by the Dallas County |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Republican Party; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, A prominent member of the congregation at Sunnyvale |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | First Baptist Church, Mrs. Bridges especially enjoyed teaching |

| 27 | 28 | | Bible verses to young people and greeting the children in the |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | nursery on Sunday mornings, and she was active in the Awana youth |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | ministry program; and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Ernestine Bridges lived a rich and purposeful life |

| 31 | 32 | | devoted to her family, her community, and her faith, and she leaves |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | behind a legacy of service to others that will forever inspire all |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | those who knew and loved her; now, therefore, be it |

| 34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 35 | 36 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Ernestine Holt |

| 36 | 37 | | Bridges and extend heartfelt sympathy to her relatives and her many |
