 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
 memories of Ernestine Holt Bridges of Mesquite, who passed away on
 May 20, 2017, at the age of 81; and
 WHEREAS, The daughter of Ernest and Hattie Dee Holt, the
 former Ernestine Holt was born in Blytheville, Arkansas, on August
 25, 1935, and grew up with the company of two brothers, Jack and
 Robert; in 1971, she was joined in matrimony to Louis E. Bridges
 Jr., with whom she enjoyed more than 45 years of marriage; the proud
 mother of four children, Martin, Nina, Jennifer, and John, she was
 blessed later in life with five grandchildren, Traci, Alexis, Ben,
 Beth, and Noah; and
 WHEREAS, Deeply engaged in her community, Mrs. Bridges was a
 Dallas County election judge for more than 20 years, and she served
 several terms as president of the PTA; a strong supporter of the
 Republican Party, she took on several leadership roles with the
 Mesquite Republican Women's Club and held the office of district
 director of the Texas Federation of Republican Women; in 2002, she
 was named Citizen of the Year by the City of Mesquite, and in 2013,
 she was recognized as Volunteer of the Year by the Dallas County
 Republican Party; and
 WHEREAS, A prominent member of the congregation at Sunnyvale
 First Baptist Church, Mrs. Bridges especially enjoyed teaching
 Bible verses to young people and greeting the children in the
 nursery on Sunday mornings, and she was active in the Awana youth
 ministry program; and
 WHEREAS, Ernestine Bridges lived a rich and purposeful life
 devoted to her family, her community, and her faith, and she leaves
 behind a legacy of service to others that will forever inspire all
 those who knew and loved her; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Ernestine Holt
 Bridges and extend heartfelt sympathy to her relatives and her many
 friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ernestine
 Bridges.
