H.R. No. 2639 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Sandra Rodriguez has distinguished herself through her service as council president of Super Neighborhood No. 27--Gulfton and as a tireless community advocate in House District 137; and WHEREAS, Each Houston super neighborhood elects a council composed of area residents and other stakeholders who meet regularly to discuss issues, set priorities, and implement projects of mutual benefit for the area; and WHEREAS, Situated in southwest Houston just outside Loop 610, Gulfton is an area of apartment complexes and single-family homes; originally developed as Westmoreland Farms, Gulfton is home to many recent immigrants from Mexico and Latin America; and WHEREAS, Sandra Rodriguez has lived in Gulfton for more than 10 years, and she is a recognized leader in the community, serving as president of the Gulfton Citizen's Advisory Council since 2008 and playing a leading role in the annual Gulfton Parade and Festival; she was elected as president of the Super Neighborhood No. 27--Gulfton council in November 2015; and WHEREAS, An employee of the Houston Health Department since 2007, Ms. Rodriguez is a 1998 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown and a 2012 graduate of Springfield College in Massachusetts; and WHEREAS, Through her leadership, dedication, and community spirit, Sandra Rodriguez has earned the respect of her fellow neighborhood residents and council members, and she is indeed deserving of recognition for her exemplary efforts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby commend Sandra Rodriguez for her service as council president of Super Neighborhood No. 27--Gulfton and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Rodriguez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
