H.R. No. 2655 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, ZaDarius Webber, a senior at Klein Forest High School in Houston, has been named one of the 2017 Student Heroes by the State Board of Education; and WHEREAS, The Student Heroes program recognizes young people who have performed acts of charity and kindness that benefit their fellow students, their school, or their community; and WHEREAS, One of only 15 recipients of the honor in 2017, Mr. Webber has held leadership roles with AVID, North East Men of Distinction, the Klein Forest African American Heritage Society, and the North Houston Juniors Frontier Club; he has also served his fellow students as junior class president and band council librarian and as manager of the girls' track, girls' volleyball, and boys' basketball teams; furthermore, he completed an internship in the office of Mayor Sylvester Turner in 2015; over the years, he has received a number of accolades, including the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Academy Award and the title of Martin Luther King Jr. Outstanding Student; and WHEREAS, Through his hard work and dedication to civic engagement, ZaDarius Webber has earned the respect and admiration of his classmates and his teachers, and he may indeed look forward to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate ZaDarius Webber on his selection as a 2017 Student Hero by the State Board of Education and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Webber as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
