 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Carilu Hernandez, a first-grade teacher at Wright
 Elementary School in San Antonio, has distinguished herself through
 her participation in the Texas State Teachers Association Thank
 Teachers ad campaign; and
 WHEREAS, The Thank Teachers campaign has produced several
 Spanish-language television spots to highlight the vital role
 parents and teachers play in helping Texas children reach their
 full potential; in her ad, Ms. Hernandez explains why she became a
 teacher and the importance of ensuring that educators' interests
 are represented at the local, state, and national levels; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Racine, Wisconsin, Ms. Hernandez was
 raised in Mission and earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from
 The University of Texas at San Antonio; before joining the faculty
 at Wright Elementary, she spent four years at Vestal Elementary,
 where she taught second grade; in all her endeavors, she enjoys the
 support of a fine family that includes her husband, Andy, and her
 children, Ava and Mila; and
 WHEREAS, Providing for the diverse educational needs of our
 future leaders is an undertaking of paramount importance, and
 Carilu Hernandez is indeed deserving of recognition for her work,
 both inside and outside the classroom, in pursuit of this goal; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Carilu Hernandez for her participation in
 the Texas State Teachers Association Thank Teachers ad campaign and
 extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Hernandez as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
