| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The Conjunto Music Hall of Fame honors individuals |

| 10 | 11 | | who have distinguished themselves as veterans, legends, and |

| 11 | 12 | | supporters of this uniquely South Texan music genre; and |

| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, A native of Driscoll, Ruby Ramirez Franco was a |

| 13 | 14 | | registered nurse who achieved recognition as a nursing consultant, |

| 14 | 15 | | a patient advocate, and the founder of GCI Adult Day Care Center in |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Corpus Christi; she developed her love of music at an early age and |

| 16 | 17 | | often sang to her clients at the center's weekly dance; and |

| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, After inviting Chano Cadena to play at GCI, |

| 18 | 19 | | Ms. Franco went on to join the group as a vocalist; they recorded |

| 19 | 20 | | several albums and cultivated a loyal following, and she enjoyed |

| 20 | 21 | | performing with the group at venues all across South Texas; she |

| 21 | 22 | | passed away on August 24, 2016, at the age of 77; and |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Ruby Ramirez Franco was a woman of remarkable gifts |

| 23 | 24 | | and accomplishments who made her own notable mark on the history of |

| 24 | 25 | | conjunto music, and her induction into the Conjunto Music Hall of |

| 25 | 26 | | Fame serves as a worthy tribute to her extraordinary talent; now, |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 28 | 29 | | Legislature hereby honor Ruby Ramirez Franco on her posthumous |
