H.R. No. 2669 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Ruby Ramirez Franco of Robstown was posthumously inducted into the Conjunto Music Hall of Fame on May 25, 2017, as part of the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center's 36th annual Tejano Conjunto Festival; and WHEREAS, The Conjunto Music Hall of Fame honors individuals who have distinguished themselves as veterans, legends, and supporters of this uniquely South Texan music genre; and WHEREAS, A native of Driscoll, Ruby Ramirez Franco was a registered nurse who achieved recognition as a nursing consultant, a patient advocate, and the founder of GCI Adult Day Care Center in Corpus Christi; she developed her love of music at an early age and often sang to her clients at the center's weekly dance; and WHEREAS, After inviting Chano Cadena to play at GCI, Ms. Franco went on to join the group as a vocalist; they recorded several albums and cultivated a loyal following, and she enjoyed performing with the group at venues all across South Texas; she passed away on August 24, 2016, at the age of 77; and WHEREAS, Ruby Ramirez Franco was a woman of remarkable gifts and accomplishments who made her own notable mark on the history of conjunto music, and her induction into the Conjunto Music Hall of Fame serves as a worthy tribute to her extraordinary talent; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby honor Ruby Ramirez Franco on her posthumous induction into the Conjunto Music Hall of Fame and pay homage to her life and contributions as a conjunto musician; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
