 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Kahlan Rebekah Martin has been named salutatorian of
 the Class of 2017 at Summer Creek High School in Houston, and she
 indeed merits special recognition for receiving this significant
 honor; and
 WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only
 intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the
 highest academic standards; in securing her place as one of the two
 top ranking students in her class, Ms. Martin demonstrated a
 thorough understanding of a wide range of subjects, and her
 attainment of this coveted accolade is the crowning achievement of
 a notable high school career; and
 WHEREAS, An AP Scholar with Distinction, Ms. Martin was a
 member of the National Honor Society; she also served the school as
 a cheerleader, as president of the Spanish Club, and as a violinist
 in the orchestra, which she further served as vice president; she
 plans to attend Stanford University in the fall; and
 WHEREAS, During her years at Summer Creek High, Kahlan
 Rebekah Martin has earned the respect and admiration of both her
 teachers and classmates, and her exceptional scholastic ability and
 commitment to excellence have opened the way to a bright and
 promising future for this outstanding young Texan; now, therefore,
 be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Kahlan Rebekah Martin on
 graduating as salutatorian of the Summer Creek High School Class of
 2017 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success as
 she begins the next exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Martin as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
