45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their
67 memories of Claudette McInnis Thomas, who passed away on May 13,
78 2017, at the age of 75, and her husband, William John Thomas, who
89 passed away on September 7, 2012, at the age of 82; and
910 WHEREAS, During a rewarding marriage that spanned 45 years,
1011 Billy and Claudette Thomas operated a successful cattle ranch north
1112 of Raymondville, and they were valued parishioners of Our Lady of
1213 Guadalupe Catholic Church; moreover, they shared in the joy of
1314 raising two children, Mitch and Tonnyre, and doting on their five
1415 grandchildren, Morgan, Lauren, Logan, Royse, and Claudette; and
1516 WHEREAS, The former Claudette McInnis was born on May 22,
1617 1941, in Brownwood to Claude and Lillie Mae McInnis; a graduate of
1718 Texas Tech University, she went on to earn her master's degree in
1819 journalism at Kansas State University and soon thereafter met her
1920 future husband, Billy; Mrs. Thomas was active in the American
2021 International Charolais Association and served for many years on
2122 the board of the Willacy County Livestock Show; she also
2223 volunteered her time on numerous other boards and committees; and
2324 WHEREAS, Born in Brownsville on August 26, 1930, to Maria and
2425 Harl Thomas, Billy Thomas attended school in Raymondville and
2526 studied at Texas A & I University in Kingsville; active in several
2627 agricultural organizations, he served the American International
2728 Charolais Association as director and as a member of its executive
2829 committee and the Pan American Zebu Association as president, and
2930 he was also an enthusiastic supporter of Willacy County Youth in
3031 Agriculture; and
3132 WHEREAS, Respected members of their community and beloved
3233 parents, grandparents, and friends, Billy and Claudette Thomas are
3334 deeply missed, and they will always hold a treasured place in the
3435 hearts of all those who held them dear; now, therefore, be it
3536 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
3637 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Claudette McInnis
3738 Thomas and William John Thomas and extend sincere sympathy to their
3839 loved ones; and, be it further
3940 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4041 prepared for their family and that when the Texas House of
4142 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Claudette
4243 and Billy Thomas.
