| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their |

| 6 | 7 | | memories of Claudette McInnis Thomas, who passed away on May 13, |

| 7 | 8 | | 2017, at the age of 75, and her husband, William John Thomas, who |

| 8 | 9 | | passed away on September 7, 2012, at the age of 82; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, During a rewarding marriage that spanned 45 years, |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Billy and Claudette Thomas operated a successful cattle ranch north |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | of Raymondville, and they were valued parishioners of Our Lady of |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Guadalupe Catholic Church; moreover, they shared in the joy of |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | raising two children, Mitch and Tonnyre, and doting on their five |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | grandchildren, Morgan, Lauren, Logan, Royse, and Claudette; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The former Claudette McInnis was born on May 22, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | 1941, in Brownwood to Claude and Lillie Mae McInnis; a graduate of |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Texas Tech University, she went on to earn her master's degree in |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | journalism at Kansas State University and soon thereafter met her |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | future husband, Billy; Mrs. Thomas was active in the American |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | International Charolais Association and served for many years on |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | the board of the Willacy County Livestock Show; she also |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | volunteered her time on numerous other boards and committees; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Born in Brownsville on August 26, 1930, to Maria and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Harl Thomas, Billy Thomas attended school in Raymondville and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | studied at Texas A & I University in Kingsville; active in several |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | agricultural organizations, he served the American International |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | Charolais Association as director and as a member of its executive |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | committee and the Pan American Zebu Association as president, and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | he was also an enthusiastic supporter of Willacy County Youth in |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | Agriculture; and |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Respected members of their community and beloved |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | parents, grandparents, and friends, Billy and Claudette Thomas are |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | deeply missed, and they will always hold a treasured place in the |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | hearts of all those who held them dear; now, therefore, be it |

| 35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 36 | 37 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Claudette McInnis |

| 37 | 38 | | Thomas and William John Thomas and extend sincere sympathy to their |
