| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Roxanne Soheyla Meraji has ably served her fellow |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Meraji has provided |

| 10 | 11 | | vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks; |

| 11 | 12 | | in addition to gaining valuable experience in the field of public |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | service, she has learned more about the legislative process and the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State; and |

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A native of Eagle Pass, Ms. Meraji attended The |

| 15 | 16 | | University of Texas at Austin on a full academic scholarship, and |

| 16 | 17 | | she graduated with a bachelor's degree in government and philosophy |

| 17 | 18 | | in May 2017; while completing her studies, she chaired the |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | university's mock trial team and served as an officer in the Phi |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Alpha Delta pre-law fraternity; she plans to attend law school and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | to pursue a career as an attorney and judge; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed her |

| 22 | 23 | | duties as a legislative intern and policy analyst with skill and |

| 23 | 24 | | dedication, and she is indeed deserving of special recognition for |

| 24 | 25 | | her fine work; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby commend Roxanne Soheyla Meraji for her service |
