| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Victoria Godinez was selected to participate in the |

| 7 | 8 | | 85th Legislative Session, she has ably served her fellow Texans as |

| 8 | 9 | | an aide in the office of State Representative Justin Rodriguez; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American Legislative |

| 10 | 11 | | Leadership Foundation, this program offers outstanding university |

| 11 | 12 | | students and recent graduates an opportunity to serve as full-time |

| 12 | 13 | | policy interns in the offices of members of the Texas House of |

| 13 | 14 | | Representatives; and |

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of her tenure at the State Capitol, |

| 15 | 16 | | Ms. Godinez has provided vital assistance in handling a wide |

| 16 | 17 | | variety of challenging tasks; in addition to gaining valuable |

| 17 | 18 | | experience in the field of public service, she has learned more |

| 18 | 19 | | about the legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Lone Star State; she previously interned in the office of State |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Representative Chris Turner and took part in an academic seminar at |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | the 2016 Democratic National Convention; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, A first-generation college student, Ms. Godinez |

| 23 | 24 | | graduated from St. Edward's University in December 2016 with a |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | bachelor's degree in political science; she contributed to the |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Student Government Association as a senator and as director of |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | communications and also participated in a number of the school's |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | service projects; her long-term goals include earning a doctorate |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | in public policy and pursuing a career in political activism; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed her |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | duties as a legislative aide with skill and dedication, and she is |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, |

| 33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
