H.R. No. 2723
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Victoria Godinez was selected to participate in the
2017 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program, and during the
85th Legislative Session, she has ably served her fellow Texans as
an aide in the office of State Representative Justin Rodriguez; and
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American Legislative
Leadership Foundation, this program offers outstanding university
students and recent graduates an opportunity to serve as full-time
policy interns in the offices of members of the Texas House of
Representatives; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of her tenure at the State Capitol,
Ms. Godinez has provided vital assistance in handling a wide
variety of challenging tasks; in addition to gaining valuable
experience in the field of public service, she has learned more
about the legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the
Lone Star State; she previously interned in the office of State
Representative Chris Turner and took part in an academic seminar at
the 2016 Democratic National Convention; and
WHEREAS, A first-generation college student, Ms. Godinez
graduated from St. Edward's University in December 2016 with a
bachelor's degree in political science; she contributed to the
Student Government Association as a senator and as director of
communications and also participated in a number of the school's
service projects; her long-term goals include earning a doctorate
in public policy and pursuing a career in political activism; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed her
duties as a legislative aide with skill and dedication, and she is
indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Victoria Godinez on her participation in
the 2017 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program and extend to
her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Godinez as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
