H.R. No. 2724
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Manuel E. Lopez III was selected to participate in
the 2017 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program, and during
the 85th Legislative Session, he has ably served his fellow Texans
as an aide in the office of State Representative Ana Hernandez; and
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American Legislative
Leadership Foundation, this program offers outstanding university
students and recent graduates an opportunity to serve as full-time
policy interns in the offices of members of the Texas House of
Representatives; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of his tenure at the State Capitol,
Mr. Lopez has provided vital assistance in handling a wide variety
of challenging tasks; in addition to gaining valuable experience in
the field of public service, he has learned more about the
legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star
State; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Lopez graduated with honors from The University
of Texas at El Paso in December 2016 with a bachelor's degree in
political science; outside of his studies, he has worked as a tutor
and teaching assistant and held leadership roles with the
University Democrats and the Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity;
moreover, he has given generously of his time and talents to such
worthy organizations and initiatives as These Hands Don't Hurt, the
Villa Maria Women's Shelter, Ronald McDonald House Charities, and
Mothers Against Drunk Driving; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has performed his
duties as a legislative aide with skill and dedication, and he is
indeed deserving of special recognition for his fine work; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Manuel E. Lopez III on his participation
in the 2017 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program and extend
to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Lopez as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
