H.R. No. 286
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of
mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Walter and Ruth Drake
of Waco celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on
December 17, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Drake were joined in matrimony in 1966
at First Baptist Church Heights in Houston; over the years, they
have been blessed with a treasured family that includes their two
sons, Darren and his wife, Christine, and Randall and his wife,
Misty, as well as their five grandchildren, Amelia, Katie,
Juliette, Caroline, and Zachary; and
WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, Mr. Drake
worked as a teacher and administrator with the Speegleville and
Midway school districts for 41 years before retiring in 2007, and
Mrs. Drake retired in 2010 after 32 years of employment with the
Moody Memorial Library at Baylor University; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Drake have enjoyed five decades of
abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among an
exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting
commitment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Walter and Ruth Drake on their 50th
wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Drake as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
