 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The city of Dallas lost an accomplished attorney and
 admired philanthropist with the passing of Michael Francis Wurst on
 January 11, 2017, at the age of 58; and
 WHEREAS, The son of David and Anne Wurst, Michael Wurst was
 born in Pontiac, Michigan, on September 15, 1958, and grew up with
 the companionship of four siblings, Andrea, Jerry, Tom, and Peter;
 a member of the Class of 1976 at St. Joseph High School in South
 Bend, Indiana, he went on to graduate with a bachelor's degree in
 psychology from the University of North Texas in 1981 and a juris
 doctor degree from the University of Houston in 1986; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Wurst built a successful career in real estate
 and financial law that spanned more than three decades, and he most
 recently served as associate general counsel for ORIX USA; in
 addition to his busy professional life, he dedicated his time and
 energies in behalf of numerous worthwhile organizations, including
 Youth with Faces, the Catholic Charities of Dallas Archangels Men's
 Club, the Dallas Parochial League, the UNT Dallas College of Law,
 the ORIX Foundation, Café Momentum, the St. Vincent DePaul Society,
 the North Texas Food Bank, and several local schools; and
 WHEREAS, In his leisure hours, Mr. Wurst was a voracious
 reader, an enthusiastic patron of the arts, and an avid sports fan
 who held season tickets to the Dallas Mavericks for more than a
 quarter century; in meeting life's challenges, he drew great
 strength and inspiration from his faith, and he cherished the time
 spent in the company of his loved ones; he was devoted to his wife,
 Robin Minick, and took tremendous pride in his four sons, Anthony,
 Nicholas, Vincent, and Kyle; and
 WHEREAS, Michael Wurst lived a life that was rich in personal
 and professional achievements, and though his time on this earth
 was too brief, memories of his kindness, generosity of spirit, and
 wonderful sense of humor remain to comfort those who had the
 privilege to know him; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Michael Francis Wurst
 and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family and to
 his many friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Michael
 Wurst.
