| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Larry Elizondo Sr. is being presented with an |

| 7 | 8 | | Christi at the organization's 21st annual awards banquet on |

| 8 | 9 | | February 16, 2017; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A former member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Larry Elizondo has enjoyed a long and respected career with the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | CITGO Corpus Christi Refinery, where he currently serves as manager |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | of corporate social responsibility, refining G&PA, and legislative |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | affairs; over his years with the company, he has also held a number |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | of supervisory positions; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Elizondo has demonstrated exceptional |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | leadership ability in his community as well, serving his fellow |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | citizens as president and vice president of the Corpus Christi |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Independent School District Board of Trustees and as the District 5 |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | representative on the Corpus Christi City Council, an office he |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | held for three terms; this esteemed public servant has chaired the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Port Industries Government and Public Affairs Committee and sat on |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | the Municipal Court Committee, the Administrative Committee, and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | the Government and Public Affairs Committee; moreover, he has given |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | generously of his time and talents to myriad local organizations, |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | including the Texas State Aquarium Board of Trustees, the United |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, the Del Mar College Foundation, |

| 27 | 28 | | the USS Lexington Museum, and the Coastal Bend Blood Center; and |

| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, The strength of our communities is enhanced by the |

| 29 | 30 | | devoted efforts of individuals such as Larry Elizondo, whose |

| 30 | 31 | | tireless work has contributed immeasurably to the quality of life |

| 31 | 32 | | in the Corpus Christi area and beyond; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Larry Elizondo Sr. on his receipt |
