H.R. No. 411
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Larry Elizondo Sr. is being presented with an
Outstanding Community Leader Award by LULAC Council No. 1 in Corpus
Christi at the organization's 21st annual awards banquet on
February 16, 2017; and
WHEREAS, A former member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve,
Larry Elizondo has enjoyed a long and respected career with the
CITGO Corpus Christi Refinery, where he currently serves as manager
of corporate social responsibility, refining G&PA, and legislative
affairs; over his years with the company, he has also held a number
of supervisory positions; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Elizondo has demonstrated exceptional
leadership ability in his community as well, serving his fellow
citizens as president and vice president of the Corpus Christi
Independent School District Board of Trustees and as the District 5
representative on the Corpus Christi City Council, an office he
held for three terms; this esteemed public servant has chaired the
Port Industries Government and Public Affairs Committee and sat on
the Municipal Court Committee, the Administrative Committee, and
the Government and Public Affairs Committee; moreover, he has given
generously of his time and talents to myriad local organizations,
including the Texas State Aquarium Board of Trustees, the United
Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, the Del Mar College Foundation,
the USS Lexington Museum, and the Coastal Bend Blood Center; and
WHEREAS, The strength of our communities is enhanced by the
devoted efforts of individuals such as Larry Elizondo, whose
tireless work has contributed immeasurably to the quality of life
in the Corpus Christi area and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Larry Elizondo Sr. on his receipt
of an Outstanding Community Leader Award from LULAC Council No. 1
and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Elizondo as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
