| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Gabe Guerra is being recognized as the Ambassador of |

| 6 | 7 | | the Year by LULAC Council No. 1 in Corpus Christi at the |

| 7 | 8 | | organization's 21st annual awards banquet on February 16, 2017; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A native of Corpus Christi, Gabe Guerra holds a |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | bachelor's degree in finance from The University of Texas at Austin |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | and an advanced degree from the SW Graduate School of Banking at |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Southern Methodist University; in addition to fulfilling his myriad |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | professional duties as market president of Kleberg Bank, he has |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | taken on leadership roles with a number of worthwhile civic |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | organizations; he serves as chair of the Corpus Christi Regional |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Economic Development Corporation and as vice chair of the Business |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | and Job Development Corporation Type A Board, and he is a former |

| 17 | 18 | | chair of the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce; he also |

| 18 | 19 | | holds membership on the boards of United Way of the Coastal Bend and |

| 19 | 20 | | the local chapter of Boy Scouts of America; and |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In recognition of his outstanding achievements, |

| 21 | 22 | | Mr. Guerra was selected as the 2016 Superhero by the Young Business |

| 22 | 23 | | Professionals of the Coastal Bend as well as the 2016 Advocate of |

| 23 | 24 | | the Year by the Westside Business Association; in 2011, he was named |

| 24 | 25 | | a Small Business Champion by the Small Business Association, and he |

| 25 | 26 | | was honored as the 2012 Business Person of the Year by the Corpus |

| 26 | 27 | | Christi Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; and |

| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, The strength of our communities is enhanced by the |

| 28 | 29 | | devoted efforts of individuals such as Gabe Guerra, whose tireless |

| 29 | 30 | | work has contributed immeasurably to the quality of life in the |

| 30 | 31 | | Corpus Christi area and beyond; now, therefore, be it |

| 31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 32 | 33 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Gabe Guerra on his receipt of the |
