H.R. No. 416
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Gabe Guerra is being recognized as the Ambassador of
the Year by LULAC Council No. 1 in Corpus Christi at the
organization's 21st annual awards banquet on February 16, 2017; and
WHEREAS, A native of Corpus Christi, Gabe Guerra holds a
bachelor's degree in finance from The University of Texas at Austin
and an advanced degree from the SW Graduate School of Banking at
Southern Methodist University; in addition to fulfilling his myriad
professional duties as market president of Kleberg Bank, he has
taken on leadership roles with a number of worthwhile civic
organizations; he serves as chair of the Corpus Christi Regional
Economic Development Corporation and as vice chair of the Business
and Job Development Corporation Type A Board, and he is a former
chair of the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce; he also
holds membership on the boards of United Way of the Coastal Bend and
the local chapter of Boy Scouts of America; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of his outstanding achievements,
Mr. Guerra was selected as the 2016 Superhero by the Young Business
Professionals of the Coastal Bend as well as the 2016 Advocate of
the Year by the Westside Business Association; in 2011, he was named
a Small Business Champion by the Small Business Association, and he
was honored as the 2012 Business Person of the Year by the Corpus
Christi Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, The strength of our communities is enhanced by the
devoted efforts of individuals such as Gabe Guerra, whose tireless
work has contributed immeasurably to the quality of life in the
Corpus Christi area and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Gabe Guerra on his receipt of the
Ambassador of the Year award from LULAC Council No. 1 and extend to
him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Guerra as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
