| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Members of Texas PTA are gathering in Austin on |

| 6 | 7 | | February 27, 2017, in recognition of Texas PTA Rally Day at the |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Since its founding on October 19, 1909, by Ella |

| 9 | 10 | | Caruthers Porter, Texas PTA has played a vital role in fostering the |

| 10 | 11 | | education, health, and well-being of children across the state, as |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | well as served as a valued resource for parents, teachers, school |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | administrators, and community leaders; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, With half a million members, the association is |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | present on almost 3,000 campuses statewide and is headquartered in |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | downtown Austin; it is led by president Lisa Holbrook of Houston, a |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | volunteer and mother of two; during each Texas legislative session, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | representatives of the organization gather at the State Capitol to |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | advocate in behalf of Texas children; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The dedicated members of Texas PTA work tirelessly |

| 20 | 21 | | to support students and to advance the mission of Texas schools, and |

| 21 | 22 | | their exceptional efforts have helped to make the Lone Star State an |

| 22 | 23 | | even better place to live and raise a family; now, therefore, be it |

| 23 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 24 | 25 | | Legislature hereby recognize February 27, 2017, as Texas PTA Rally |

| 25 | 26 | | Day at the State Capitol and commend the leadership and members of |

| 26 | 27 | | Texas PTA for their important contributions in behalf of our youth; |
