H.R. No. 43 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Members of Texas PTA are gathering in Austin on February 27, 2017, in recognition of Texas PTA Rally Day at the State Capitol; and WHEREAS, Since its founding on October 19, 1909, by Ella Caruthers Porter, Texas PTA has played a vital role in fostering the education, health, and well-being of children across the state, as well as served as a valued resource for parents, teachers, school administrators, and community leaders; and WHEREAS, With half a million members, the association is present on almost 3,000 campuses statewide and is headquartered in downtown Austin; it is led by president Lisa Holbrook of Houston, a volunteer and mother of two; during each Texas legislative session, representatives of the organization gather at the State Capitol to advocate in behalf of Texas children; and WHEREAS, The dedicated members of Texas PTA work tirelessly to support students and to advance the mission of Texas schools, and their exceptional efforts have helped to make the Lone Star State an even better place to live and raise a family; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby recognize February 27, 2017, as Texas PTA Rally Day at the State Capitol and commend the leadership and members of Texas PTA for their important contributions in behalf of our youth; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Texas PTA as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
