 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Residents of the Fort Worth community lost an
 esteemed educator with the untimely passing of James Lee Wellman of
 Aledo on January 5, 2017, at the age of 47; and
 WHEREAS, Born to Bob and Carole Wellman on June 24, 1969,
 Jamie Wellman grew up in Kenova, West Virginia, with his two
 brothers and two sisters; he earned his bachelor's degree at West
 Virginia State University and later continued his studies at Texas
 Christian University, graduating with a master's degree in
 education administration; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Wellman worked as a basketball and volleyball
 coach at several high schools in his home state before moving to
 Fort Worth in 1998; after serving as a special education teacher and
 coach at Burleson High School, he went on to teach at
 Carter-Riverside High and South Hills High; in 2005 he joined the
 staff at Western Hills High School in Benbrook as an assistant
 principal, and four years later, he was promoted to principal, a
 role he fulfilled with distinction until his passing; in
 recognition of his outstanding tenure with the school, the Fort
 Worth Independent School District Board of Trustees recently
 decided to name the Western Hills field house in his honor; and
 WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to his family, Mr. Wellman shared a
 rewarding marriage with his wife of two decades, Stephanie, and he
 was tremendously proud of their son, Payne; an avid sports fan,
 Mr. Wellman enjoyed teaching his son to play golf as well as rooting
 for his favorite teams, Marshall University, Texas Christian
 University, and the Pittsburgh Steelers; he also treasured the
 summers he spent with his loved ones on St. Simons Island in
 Georgia; and
 WHEREAS, Beloved for his warmth, his sense of humor, and his
 ability to see the best in everyone, Jamie Wellman touched
 countless lives during his journey on this earth, and all those who
 had the privilege to know him will forever hold him close in their
 hearts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of James Lee Wellman
 and extend sincere condolences to his relatives, to his friends,
 and to the faculty, staff, and students of Western Hills High
 School; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of James Lee
 Wellman.
