| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Dolores Guerrero is being honored with a Y Women |

| 6 | 7 | | in Careers Award by the YWCA in Corpus Christi on March 1, 2017; and |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Corpus Christi YWCA has been recognizing |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | accomplished women in the community through this awards program |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | since 1979; those chosen for the distinction have achieved a |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | notable degree of success in their respective fields, and as women |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | who demonstrate integrity, a willingness to take on new challenges, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | and a commitment to excellence, they serve as outstanding role |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | models for young girls, whose empowerment is a crucial part of the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | YWCA mission; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Guerrero has sought opportunities throughout |

| 16 | 17 | | her career to mentor and empower women both in their careers and in |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | their personal growth; she served as a field instructor at The |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | University of Texas Graduate School of Social Work and as a lecturer |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | in social work at UT--Pan American; after joining the faculty at |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Texas A&M University--Kingsville as a social work program director, |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | she rose to her present post as dean of the College of Arts and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Sciences; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Through the skill and determination she brings to |

| 24 | 25 | | all her efforts, Dr. Guerrero has earned the esteem of her peers and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | made contributions to her community that will resonate far into the |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | future; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 28 | 29 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Dolores Guerrero on receiving |
