 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Dr. Dolores Guerrero is being honored with a Y Women
 in Careers Award by the YWCA in Corpus Christi on March 1, 2017; and
 WHEREAS, The Corpus Christi YWCA has been recognizing
 accomplished women in the community through this awards program
 since 1979; those chosen for the distinction have achieved a
 notable degree of success in their respective fields, and as women
 who demonstrate integrity, a willingness to take on new challenges,
 and a commitment to excellence, they serve as outstanding role
 models for young girls, whose empowerment is a crucial part of the
 YWCA mission; and
 WHEREAS, Dr. Guerrero has sought opportunities throughout
 her career to mentor and empower women both in their careers and in
 their personal growth; she served as a field instructor at The
 University of Texas Graduate School of Social Work and as a lecturer
 in social work at UT--Pan American; after joining the faculty at
 Texas A&M University--Kingsville as a social work program director,
 she rose to her present post as dean of the College of Arts and
 Sciences; and
 WHEREAS, Through the skill and determination she brings to
 all her efforts, Dr. Guerrero has earned the esteem of her peers and
 made contributions to her community that will resonate far into the
 future; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Dolores Guerrero on receiving
 a 2017 Y Women in Careers Award from the YWCA of Corpus Christi and
 extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Dr. Guerrero as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
