45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Michael
67 Gene Bryan of Keller, who passed away on January 25, 2017, at the
78 age of 71; and
89 WHEREAS, Mike Bryan was born in Coleman on June 27, 1945, to
910 Dany and Glenda Jean Bryan; after graduating from Abilene High
1011 School, he attended Texas A&M University, where he was a
1112 distinguished member of the Corps of Cadets; and
1213 WHEREAS, During his senior year, Mr. Bryan married his high
1314 school sweetheart, Carole Herring; the couple became the proud
1415 parents of three children, Matthew, Mark, and Michelle, and later
1516 in life, their family grew to include seven grandchildren, Taylor,
1617 Logan, Huston, Hogan, Peighton, Lanie, and Cameron; and
1718 WHEREAS, After graduating from Texas A&M, Mr. Bryan was
1819 commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army; he began
1920 studies at Texas A&M toward a master's degree in business but was
2021 called to active military duty, first in the quartermaster branch
2122 and then as a company commander at Fort Carson, Colorado; he
2223 concluded his military service after two years at the rank of first
2324 lieutenant; and
2425 WHEREAS, Mr. Bryan began his civilian career with Stewart and
2526 Stevenson in 1970 as a district sales engineer in Odessa, and he
2627 went on to hold the positions of sales manager and oil-field sales
2728 manager in the company's Dallas office; in 1986, he started his own
2829 business, M. G. Bryan Equipment Company, which prospered over the
2930 years, earning recognition in 2007 as one of the fastest-growing
3031 businesses in North Texas from the Dallas Business Journal and the
3132 Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University; and
3233 WHEREAS, Mr. Bryan was a member of the Masons and the
3334 Shriners, and he was also active in the Texas and Southwestern
3435 Cattle Raisers Association, the Texas A&M Association of Former
3536 Students, the Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets Association, and the
3637 National Oil Equipment Manufacturers and Delegates Society; and
3738 WHEREAS, A dedicated officer, a caring family man, and an
3839 accomplished business leader, Mike Bryan lived a rich and
3940 purposeful life surrounded by those he loved, and they will forever
4041 carry him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
4142 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
4243 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Michael Gene Bryan
4344 and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and many friends; and,
4445 be it further
4546 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4647 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4748 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Michael
4849 Gene Bryan.
