H.R. No. 494 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Michael Gene Bryan of Keller, who passed away on January 25, 2017, at the age of 71; and WHEREAS, Mike Bryan was born in Coleman on June 27, 1945, to Dany and Glenda Jean Bryan; after graduating from Abilene High School, he attended Texas A&M University, where he was a distinguished member of the Corps of Cadets; and WHEREAS, During his senior year, Mr. Bryan married his high school sweetheart, Carole Herring; the couple became the proud parents of three children, Matthew, Mark, and Michelle, and later in life, their family grew to include seven grandchildren, Taylor, Logan, Huston, Hogan, Peighton, Lanie, and Cameron; and WHEREAS, After graduating from Texas A&M, Mr. Bryan was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army; he began studies at Texas A&M toward a master's degree in business but was called to active military duty, first in the quartermaster branch and then as a company commander at Fort Carson, Colorado; he concluded his military service after two years at the rank of first lieutenant; and WHEREAS, Mr. Bryan began his civilian career with Stewart and Stevenson in 1970 as a district sales engineer in Odessa, and he went on to hold the positions of sales manager and oil-field sales manager in the company's Dallas office; in 1986, he started his own business, M. G. Bryan Equipment Company, which prospered over the years, earning recognition in 2007 as one of the fastest-growing businesses in North Texas from the Dallas Business Journal and the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University; and WHEREAS, Mr. Bryan was a member of the Masons and the Shriners, and he was also active in the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, the Texas A&M Association of Former Students, the Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets Association, and the National Oil Equipment Manufacturers and Delegates Society; and WHEREAS, A dedicated officer, a caring family man, and an accomplished business leader, Mike Bryan lived a rich and purposeful life surrounded by those he loved, and they will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Michael Gene Bryan and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Michael Gene Bryan.
