H.R. No. 567
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Alexandra Eilish Brazell has been named a 2016
Corpus Christi Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished
Scholar in the achiever category; and
WHEREAS, The Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished
Scholars program was established to reward local students who have
demonstrated excellence in specific areas of achievement; since its
inception in 1988, hundreds of young men and women have been
selected for this prestigious honor, and each of the 2016 winners
received a $1,000 scholarship to help fund their college studies;
and
WHEREAS, A senior at Veterans Memorial High School,
Eilish Brazell has overcome numerous hardships on the path to
attaining a 4.06 grade point average, which ranks her 11th in a
class of 304 students; in addition to keeping up with a challenging
curriculum that includes AP course work, she is a member of the
student council as well as the National Honor Society; after
graduation, she is considering majoring in English during college;
and
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has pursued her goals
with tremendous dedication, and she may take great pride in all that
she has accomplished as she looks ahead to a future bright with
promise; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Eilish Brazell on her selection as
a 2016 Corpus Christi Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished
Scholar and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Brazell as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
