| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished |

| 9 | 10 | | Scholars program was established to reward local students who have |

| 10 | 11 | | demonstrated excellence in specific areas of achievement; since its |

| 11 | 12 | | inception in 1988, hundreds of young men and women have been |

| 12 | 13 | | selected for this prestigious honor, and each of the 2016 winners |

| 13 | 14 | | received a $1,000 scholarship to help fund their college studies; |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A senior at Veterans Memorial High School, |

| 16 | 17 | | Eilish Brazell has overcome numerous hardships on the path to |

| 17 | 18 | | attaining a 4.06 grade point average, which ranks her 11th in a |

| 18 | 19 | | class of 304 students; in addition to keeping up with a challenging |

| 19 | 20 | | curriculum that includes AP course work, she is a member of the |

| 20 | 21 | | student council as well as the National Honor Society; after |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | graduation, she is considering majoring in English during college; |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has pursued her goals |

| 24 | 25 | | with tremendous dedication, and she may take great pride in all that |

| 25 | 26 | | she has accomplished as she looks ahead to a future bright with |
