| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished |

| 9 | 10 | | Scholars program was established to reward local students who have |

| 10 | 11 | | demonstrated excellence in specific areas of achievement; since its |

| 11 | 12 | | inception in 1988, hundreds of young men and women have been |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | selected for this prestigious honor, and each of the 2016 winners |

| 13 | 14 | | received a $1,000 scholarship to help fund their college studies; |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A student at Tuloso-Midway High School, Jaclyn |

| 16 | 17 | | Cavazos ranks 15th in a class of 294 students and holds a 4.03 grade |

| 17 | 18 | | point average; in addition to excelling academically, she has |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | served as an officer on the student council and in the Rotary |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Interact Club and has participated in the Junior Engineering |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Technical Society, Student Leadership Club, Discovery Club, and the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | National Honor Society; moreover, she coaches a team of |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | kindergarten-aged girls in the Northwest Little Miss Kickball |

| 23 | 24 | | league, and she has given generously of her time and talents to such |

| 24 | 25 | | worthy groups as Toys for Tots, the PALS Animal Shelter, the Ark |

| 25 | 26 | | Assessment Center & Emergency Shelter for Youth, and the local food |

| 26 | 27 | | pantry; and |

| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has pursued her goals |

| 28 | 29 | | with tremendous dedication, and she may take great pride in all that |
