| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Trenton Wahlen has been named a 2016 Corpus Christi |

| 6 | 7 | | Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished Scholar in the |

|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished |

| 9 | 10 | | Scholars program was established to reward local students who have |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | demonstrated excellence in specific areas of achievement; since its |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | inception in 1988, hundreds of young men and women have been |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | selected for this prestigious honor, and each of the 2016 winners |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | received a $1,000 scholarship to help fund their college studies; |
|---|

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The son of Mike and Malynn Wahlen, "T. J." Wahlen is |

| 16 | 17 | | a senior at Calallen High School, where he holds an impressive 5.80 |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | grade point average and ranks second in his class of 263 students; |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | in addition to keeping up with his challenging academic course |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | load, he has participated in numerous extracurricular activities |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | and has served in such leadership roles as president of Business |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Professionals of America and vice president of the National Honor |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Society; he is also a member of three 4-H clubs and a senior altar |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | server at St. Thomas More Catholic Church; moreover, he is actively |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | involved with Helping Hands, an organization that distributes |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | hygiene products to the homeless, and with the local Rotary Club |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | adoption clinic; after graduation, he plans to work toward a career |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | in engineering; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has pursued his goals |

| 29 | 30 | | with tremendous dedication, and he may take great pride in all that |

| 30 | 31 | | he has accomplished as he looks ahead to a future bright with |

| 31 | 32 | | promise; now, therefore, be it |
