| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished |

| 9 | 10 | | Scholars program was established to reward local students who have |

| 10 | 11 | | demonstrated excellence in specific areas of achievement; since its |

| 11 | 12 | | inception in 1988, hundreds of young men and women have been |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | selected for this prestigious honor, and each of the 2016 winners |

| 13 | 14 | | received a $1,000 scholarship to help fund their college studies; |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A senior at Collegiate High School, Ms. Mohammad has |

| 16 | 17 | | overcome many hardships on the road to success; she moved with her |

| 17 | 18 | | family to Corpus Christi from Pakistan when she was 11 years old, |

| 18 | 19 | | and during her high school years, she has worked part-time to help |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | support the household while managing a challenging course load and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | maintaining a 3.91 grade point average; after graduation, she plans |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | to earn a degree in sociology from Texas A&M University--Corpus |

| 22 | 23 | | Christi on her way to completing a Ph.D. in the field; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has pursued her goals |

| 24 | 25 | | with tremendous dedication, and she may take great pride in all that |

| 25 | 26 | | she has accomplished as she looks ahead to a future bright with |
