 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Sabah Mukhtiar Mohammad has been named a 2016 Corpus
 Christi Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished Scholar in
 the achiever category; and
 WHEREAS, The Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished
 Scholars program was established to reward local students who have
 demonstrated excellence in specific areas of achievement; since its
 inception in 1988, hundreds of young men and women have been
 selected for this prestigious honor, and each of the 2016 winners
 received a $1,000 scholarship to help fund their college studies;
 and
 WHEREAS, A senior at Collegiate High School, Ms. Mohammad has
 overcome many hardships on the road to success; she moved with her
 family to Corpus Christi from Pakistan when she was 11 years old,
 and during her high school years, she has worked part-time to help
 support the household while managing a challenging course load and
 maintaining a 3.91 grade point average; after graduation, she plans
 to earn a degree in sociology from Texas A&M University--Corpus
 Christi on her way to completing a Ph.D. in the field; and
 WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has pursued her goals
 with tremendous dedication, and she may take great pride in all that
 she has accomplished as she looks ahead to a future bright with
 promise; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Sabah Mukhtiar Mohammad on her
 selection as a 2016 Corpus Christi Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas
 Distinguished Scholar and extend to her sincere best wishes for
 continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Mohammad as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
