H.R. No. 611 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Miguel Padilla of Fort Worth has earned great distinction for himself, his school, and his community by receiving a perfect score on the Advanced Placement Computer Science A Exam in 2016; and WHEREAS, Administered by the College Board, AP tests allow high school students to earn college credit by reaching a threshold score on the test; out of the more than 58,000 students worldwide who took the AP Computer Science A Exam in 2016, only 10 students got perfect marks; and WHEREAS, The son of proud parents Michael and Maria Padilla, Miguel Padilla is a senior at Harmony School of Innovation, which he has attended since fourth grade; he hopes to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and pursue a career researching artificial intelligence and machine learning; and WHEREAS, Mr. Padilla credits his computer science teacher, Angelica Garcia, for setting the high academic standards that have helped him to excel; after he received his perfect score, he presented Ms. Garcia with a signed copy with the inscription, "I couldn't let you down, not even one point"; and WHEREAS, This significant achievement has earned Miguel Padilla the respect and admiration of his teachers and classmates, and his exceptional scholastic ability and commitment to excellence are opening the way to a bright and promising future for this outstanding young Texan; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby commend Miguel Padilla for earning a perfect score on the Advanced Placement Computer Science A Exam and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Padilla as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
