 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The year 2016 marked the 65th anniversary of the
 founding of López Handy Stop in Robstown; and
 WHEREAS, This convenience store was established in June 1951
 by Manuel B. López, and in the ensuing years, nine additional
 locations were opened in Robstown, Three Rivers, and San Diego,
 Texas; dedicated to keeping the company a family business,
 Mr. López eventually entrusted the stores to his children; and
 WHEREAS, In 2013, the founder's grandson Hector M. López Jr.
 relocated from San Antonio after a career as a mortician to become
 the store's third-generation owner; the younger Mr. López spent
 much of his adolescence working at the stores, where he learned
 every aspect of the business, from stocking and inventory to
 bookkeeping and payroll; today, he proudly continues his family's
 legacy in the Robstown community, and López Handy Stop employs a
 staff of eight; and
 WHEREAS, Locally owned and operated businesses play a vital
 role in the prosperity of the Lone Star State, and those enterprises
 that build a record of dependability and longevity enjoy a special
 degree of esteem in their communities; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby commemorate the 65th anniversary of López Handy
 Stop and extend to Hector López and his staff sincere best wishes
 for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. López as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
