| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Frankie Sprabary received an honorary diploma from |

| 6 | 7 | | Lewisville High School at a ceremony conducted on February 6, 2017, |

| 7 | 8 | | and it is indeed a pleasure to recognize this esteemed member of the |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | Class of 1946; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, During the final semester of her senior year, the |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | former Frankie Lester was returning home from a movie in Denton with |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | her high school sweetheart, H. L. "Abe" Sprabary, when their car was |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | struck by a drunk driver; her future husband was able to graduate, |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | but her injuries prevented her from completing her courses; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The couple married after Mrs. Sprabary recovered |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | from the accident, and they became the parents of four children, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Larry, Aleshia, Amilia, and Paul; Mr. Sprabary's career in the U.S. |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Air Force took them to North Africa, Italy, Germany, and France, and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Mrs. Sprabary, trained as an opera singer, joined the Air Force |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Choir and performed in churches across the United States as well as |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | in Europe; she is also a self-taught pianist, organist, and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | painter; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, In 1976, the family returned to Lewisville, and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | following Mr. Sprabary's untimely death, Mrs. Sprabary took on the |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | role of breadwinner, assisting home-schooled children; she is a |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | charter member of Temple Baptist Church, where she was the featured |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | soloist for two decades; in addition, she has supported historic |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | preservation, serving on the board of Chinn's Chapel and helping to |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | compile a book on the 19th-century country church; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Although her formal education was interrupted, |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | Mrs. Sprabary has always been an avid learner, and she instilled |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | the love of knowledge and reading in her children, all college |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | graduates; her family has grown through the years to include four |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | grandchildren, Chris, Victoria, and Autumn Sprabary and Olivia |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | Ceniceros, along with a great-grandchild, Skylar Sprabary; and |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Frankie Sprabary has met life's challenges with |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | grace, wisdom, and determination, and she is a source of |
|---|
| 37 | 38 | | inspiration to all who are fortunate enough to know her; now, |

| 38 | 39 | | therefore, be it |

| 39 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 40 | 41 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Frankie Sprabary on her receipt of |

| 41 | 42 | | an honorary diploma from Lewisville High School and extend to her |

| 42 | 43 | | sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
