| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Captain Bubba Colyer is retiring from the McLennan |

| 6 | 7 | | County Sheriff's Office on April 30, 2017, drawing to a close three |

| 7 | 8 | | decades of exemplary public service; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Captain Colyer is a graduate of the McLennan |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | Community College Law Enforcement Academy; he began his career with |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | the county jail in 1986 and remained with the sheriff's office until |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | 2007, when he left to become chief of the Lorena Police Department; |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | he subsequently served as a lieutenant in the McGregor Police |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Department before returning in 2012 to the sheriff's office, where |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | he accepted an appointment as captain in charge of the Criminal |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Investigation Division; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Today, Captain Colyer oversees a CID that is staffed |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | by 10 investigators, 5 mental health deputies, and a number of |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | civilian employees; over the past several years, he has led the |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | division to an arrest in every homicide case in the county's |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | jurisdiction; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding peace officer has exemplified the |

| 22 | 23 | | highest ideals of his profession throughout his career, and his |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | unwavering dedication to the safety and well-being of his fellow |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | citizens has earned him the lasting respect and admiration of all |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | who know him; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Captain Bubba Colyer on the |

| 28 | 29 | | occasion of his retirement from the McLennan County Sheriff's |

| 29 | 30 | | Office and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
