 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Captain Bubba Colyer is retiring from the McLennan
 County Sheriff's Office on April 30, 2017, drawing to a close three
 decades of exemplary public service; and
 WHEREAS, Captain Colyer is a graduate of the McLennan
 Community College Law Enforcement Academy; he began his career with
 the county jail in 1986 and remained with the sheriff's office until
 2007, when he left to become chief of the Lorena Police Department;
 he subsequently served as a lieutenant in the McGregor Police
 Department before returning in 2012 to the sheriff's office, where
 he accepted an appointment as captain in charge of the Criminal
 Investigation Division; and
 WHEREAS, Today, Captain Colyer oversees a CID that is staffed
 by 10 investigators, 5 mental health deputies, and a number of
 civilian employees; over the past several years, he has led the
 division to an arrest in every homicide case in the county's
 jurisdiction; and
 WHEREAS, This outstanding peace officer has exemplified the
 highest ideals of his profession throughout his career, and his
 unwavering dedication to the safety and well-being of his fellow
 citizens has earned him the lasting respect and admiration of all
 who know him; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Captain Bubba Colyer on the
 occasion of his retirement from the McLennan County Sheriff's
 Office and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
 happiness and fulfillment; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Captain Colyer as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
