| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Brooke Riggins was honored with a 4-H Gold Star |

| 6 | 7 | | Award at the Young County 4-H Gold Star Banquet on July 30, 2016; |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, First presented in 1933, the Gold Star Award was |

| 9 | 10 | | created to recognize the hard work of exemplary 4-H members; it is |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | the highest county-level achievement prize conferred by 4-H; and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, To be eligible for the Gold Star Award, members are |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | required to belong to 4-H for a minimum of three years, to complete |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | projects in three different areas of emphasis, and to participate |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | in a variety of activities; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Johnny and Mitzi Riggins, Brooke |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Riggins is highly active in 4-H, serving on the Young County |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | livestock judging team and as vice president of the 4-H County |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Council; she is a junior at Olney High School, where she has been |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | involved with the student council, the National Honor Society, and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | varsity softball; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Brooke Riggins has brought great credit to her 4-H |

| 22 | 23 | | club, and the knowledge, skills, and experience she has gained |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | during her time in the organization will surely serve her well in |

| 24 | 25 | | the years ahead; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Brooke Riggins of Olney on her |

| 27 | 28 | | receipt of a 4-H Gold Star Award and extend to her sincere best |
