| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Distinguished Graduate Award is given annually |

| 9 | 10 | | to Zachry Department alumni who have excelled in the civil |

| 10 | 11 | | engineering profession and who have displayed exceptional |

| 11 | 12 | | character and community involvement; recipients of the award are |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | nominated by fellow A&M graduates, and they are selected by the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Texas A&M Civil Engineering Advisory Board; and |

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, "Jed" Walker graduated from Texas A&M in 1984 and |

| 15 | 16 | | soon after began his career at a regional engineering firm in |

| 16 | 17 | | Austin, where he worked for six years before returning to his |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | hometown of Waco; in 2004, he opened his own civil engineering and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | surveying firm, Walker Partners, which has since added offices in |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Killeen and Austin; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Over the past three decades, Mr. Walker has |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | spearheaded thousands of civil engineering projects in Waco and the |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | surrounding Central Texas area; some of his most notable |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | undertakings include the Cameron Park Zoo, Baylor University's |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | McLane Stadium, and expansions and rehabilitations at the Waco |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Regional Airport; he also played a leading role in infrastructure |

| 26 | 27 | | reconstruction following the 2013 chemical explosion in the city of |

| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Alongside his professional accomplishments, Mr. |

| 29 | 30 | | Walker serves the local community through extensive civic |

| 30 | 31 | | involvement and has held leadership roles with the Waco Rotary |

| 31 | 32 | | Club, the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, the Boy Scouts of |

| 32 | 33 | | America, the Waco Metropolitan Planning Organization, and the |

| 33 | 34 | | Reicher Catholic High School Board; and |

| 34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Jed Walker has contributed to the development and |
