| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to |

| 6 | 7 | | a close with the passing of James Ray Clements of Big Spring on |

| 7 | 8 | | February 18, 2017, at the age of 61; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Jack and Helen Clements, Jim Clements was |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | born on July 10, 1955, in Big Spring, and he spent his childhood in |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Andrews; after graduating from Andrews High School, he went on to |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | join the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University, earning his degree |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | in 1977; he later enjoyed a 30-year career with Oncor, from which he |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | retired as area manager; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, In 1980, Mr. Clements married the love of his life, |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Leslie, and the couple settled in Big Spring; over the years, they |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | had the pleasure of watching their family grow to include two sons, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Nathan and James, as well as two granddaughters, Jaylee Rae and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Charlie Ann; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Clements served his community as a Little League |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | baseball and soccer coach and as a member of the Greater Big Spring |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Rotary Club and president of the Big Spring Area Chamber of |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Commerce; sustained by a deep faith, he was also a valued congregant |

| 23 | 24 | | of the First United Methodist Church of Big Spring, where he led a |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Sunday school class for young families and chaired the Mission and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Outreach program; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father and an engaged citizen, |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | Jim Clements was admired for his kindness, his warm smile, and his |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | wonderful sense of humor, and all those who were fortunate enough to |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | know him will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | therefore, be it |

| 31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 32 | 33 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of James Ray Clements |

| 33 | 34 | | and extend sincere condolences to his relatives and friends; and, |
