H.R. No. 861 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to a close with the passing of James Ray Clements of Big Spring on February 18, 2017, at the age of 61; and WHEREAS, The son of Jack and Helen Clements, Jim Clements was born on July 10, 1955, in Big Spring, and he spent his childhood in Andrews; after graduating from Andrews High School, he went on to join the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University, earning his degree in 1977; he later enjoyed a 30-year career with Oncor, from which he retired as area manager; and WHEREAS, In 1980, Mr. Clements married the love of his life, Leslie, and the couple settled in Big Spring; over the years, they had the pleasure of watching their family grow to include two sons, Nathan and James, as well as two granddaughters, Jaylee Rae and Charlie Ann; and WHEREAS, Mr. Clements served his community as a Little League baseball and soccer coach and as a member of the Greater Big Spring Rotary Club and president of the Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce; sustained by a deep faith, he was also a valued congregant of the First United Methodist Church of Big Spring, where he led a Sunday school class for young families and chaired the Mission and Outreach program; and WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father and an engaged citizen, Jim Clements was admired for his kindness, his warm smile, and his wonderful sense of humor, and all those who were fortunate enough to know him will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of James Ray Clements and extend sincere condolences to his relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jim Clements.
