 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Texas Association for Bilingual Education makes
 vital contributions to research, professional development, and
 public education in the Lone Star State; and
 WHEREAS, A professional association for individuals involved
 in bilingual education and English for Speakers of Other Languages,
 this noteworthy organization pursues the implementation of
 policies and programs that promote equal educational opportunity
 and academic excellence for bilingual and ESOL students; it engages
 in analysis of bilingual and bicultural instruction in Texas
 schools and facilitates the exchange of ideas and information
 regarding the development of best practices; and
 WHEREAS, The organization studies legislation at both the
 state and national levels that affects the education of children
 from linguistically and culturally diverse backgrounds; moreover,
 it shares data and fosters discussions with policy-making bodies,
 among them the legislature, the State Board of Education, the Texas
 Education Agency, the State Board for Educator Certification, and
 the United States Department of Education; and
 WHEREAS, Linguistic fluency is key to participation in
 society and the global economy, and through its outstanding
 efforts, the Texas Association for Bilingual Education is making
 vital contributions to the Lone Star State and its schools; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby honor the Texas Association for Bilingual
 Education and extend to its members sincere best wishes for the
 future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
