| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Alex Graves, Tex Mitchell IV, Aaron Walls, and Jake |

| 6 | 7 | | Yepez of Boy Scout Troop No. 410 in Austin took decisive action on |

| 7 | 8 | | July 23, 2016, that helped save the life of their troop leader; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, On that afternoon, the scouts were participating in |

| 9 | 10 | | a sailing race on Lake Belton when their troop leader, Tex Mitchell |

| 10 | 11 | | III, suddenly became weak and unable to control the boat; believing |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | he was suffering from heatstroke, the boys, who were all between the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | ages of 11 and 14, drew on their knowledge of first-aid procedures, |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | shielding him from the sun and cooling him with water; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Despite minimal sailing experience, the scouts |

| 15 | 16 | | worked together in the moment of crisis to maneuver their 24-foot |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | keelboat safely back to the marina; Mr. Mitchell was rushed to a |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | local hospital, and after receiving treatment for a severe heart |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | attack, he was able to make a full recovery; and |

| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The calm and swift response of these fine young |

| 20 | 21 | | Texans played a vital role in averting a potential tragedy, and they |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | have exemplified the highest ideals of the scouting movement; now, |

| 23 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 24 | 25 | | Legislature hereby commend Alex Graves, Tex Mitchell IV, Aaron |
