 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Kinnan Golemon, a nationally recognized figure in
 the field of environmental, natural resources, and energy law, is
 to be congratulated on a distinguished career that, as of 2017, has
 spanned 50 years; and
 WHEREAS, After earning a degree in industrial management
 engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1961, Mr. Golemon
 joined the U.S. Marine Corps and remained on active duty until 1964,
 serving in Cuba, Okinawa, Taiwan, and Vietnam; he completed his
 service with the corps in 1969 at the rank of captain; and
 WHEREAS, While attending The University of Texas School of
 Law, Mr. Golemon worked for the Texas Water Pollution Control
 Board, and after graduating in 1967, he embarked on a career as an
 environmental lawyer; he went on to practice for 30 years with the
 firm of Brown McCarroll in Austin, and in 2008 he became the founder
 and president of a consulting firm, KG Strategies; and
 WHEREAS, For the past half century, Mr. Golemon has provided
 expert professional advice to the legislature and others on a wide
 variety of complex environmental, energy, natural resources, and
 economic issues; as general counsel for the Texas Chemical Council
 from 1992 to 2006, he represented approximately 80 chemical
 manufacturers; he has also chaired the State Bar of Texas
 Environmental and Natural Resources Law Section, as well as the
 American Bar Association Section of Environment, Energy, and
 Resources and the ABA Standing Committee on Environmental Law; in
 addition, he has given generously of his time and energies to his
 colleagues and mentored generations of younger lawyers; and
 WHEREAS, An inaugural Fellow of the American College of
 Environmental Lawyers, Mr. Golemon was named in 2016 as 1 of 24
 "environmental pioneers" by the Environmental Law Institute; and
 WHEREAS, Active in the community at large, Mr. Golemon serves
 on the executive committee of the Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans
 Monument and on the advisory boards of the Ronald McDonald House and
 the Kay Bailey Hutchison Center for Energy, Law and Business at The
 University of Texas at Austin; and
 WHEREAS, Kinnan Golemon has made immeasurable contributions
 in his field, and it is indeed a pleasure to join with him in
 celebrating a major milestone in his exceptional career; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby honor attorney and consultant Kinnan Golemon as
 he marks five decades of eminent professional service and extend to
 him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Golemon as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
