 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Julia Yost, a fifth grader at Armstrong Elementary
 School in Dallas, won a $5,000 scholarship by competing in the Ford
 Fast Track Races in October 2016; and
 WHEREAS, Designed to inspire girls to pursue careers in
 science, technology, engineering, and math, the event is sponsored
 by the Ford Motor Company in partnership with four Girl Scout
 councils from around the country; and
 WHEREAS, Julia Yost was selected by Ford to represent the
 Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas at the races, where she competed
 against Scouts from the other three councils; the contest showcased
 the participants' math and science skills by requiring them to
 design and build a wooden car; the vehicles were then put to the
 test in a race that was broadcast on the Today Show, and Julia's car
 bested the others to finish in first place; and
 WHEREAS, Through her participation in the Ford Fast Track
 Races, Julia Yost has set an inspiring example for young girls in
 her community and throughout the nation, and she is indeed
 deserving of recognition for her achievement; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Julia Yost for her outstanding
 showing in the Ford Fast Track Races and extend to her sincere best
 wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Julia as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
