| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The members of First Baptist Church in Mount |

| 6 | 7 | | Pleasant are honoring Dr. Clinton L. Davis on May 24, 2017, for 25 |

| 7 | 8 | | years of dedicated service to that congregation; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of a Baptist minister, Clint Davis grew up in |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | Louisiana and was ordained by the Peniel Baptist Church in West |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Monroe in 1978; after graduating from Louisiana College in |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Pineville in 1981, he attended the New Orleans Baptist Theological |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Seminary, where he earned a master of divinity degree and a doctor |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | of ministry degree; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Davis began his ministerial career at Pleasant |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Hill Baptist Church in Chatham, Louisiana, in 1978 and went on to |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | serve congregations in Spearsville, Shreveport, and Haughton; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Since assuming the pastorate at FBC Mount Pleasant |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | in 1992, Dr. Davis has contributed to his community as treasurer of |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | the Cypress Basin Hospice Board of Directors and as a trustee for |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | East Texas Baptist University, and he is active in the Mount |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Pleasant Rotary Club; moreover, he is a member of the executive |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | board and the mission funding group for the Baptist General |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Convention of Texas; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Dr. Davis enjoys the love and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | support of his wife, Cindy, and their three children, Heather, |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Rachel, and Joshua; and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, This inspiring clergyman has led First Baptist |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Church in Mount Pleasant with conviction and compassion, and he has |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | earned the lasting respect and admiration of his congregants as |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | well as members of the greater community; now, therefore, be it |

| 31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 32 | 33 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Clinton L. Davis on his 25th |

| 33 | 34 | | anniversary as pastor of First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant and |

| 34 | 35 | | extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success with his |
