H.R. No. 952
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The members of First Baptist Church in Mount
Pleasant are honoring Dr. Clinton L. Davis on May 24, 2017, for 25
years of dedicated service to that congregation; and
WHEREAS, The son of a Baptist minister, Clint Davis grew up in
Louisiana and was ordained by the Peniel Baptist Church in West
Monroe in 1978; after graduating from Louisiana College in
Pineville in 1981, he attended the New Orleans Baptist Theological
Seminary, where he earned a master of divinity degree and a doctor
of ministry degree; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Davis began his ministerial career at Pleasant
Hill Baptist Church in Chatham, Louisiana, in 1978 and went on to
serve congregations in Spearsville, Shreveport, and Haughton; and
WHEREAS, Since assuming the pastorate at FBC Mount Pleasant
in 1992, Dr. Davis has contributed to his community as treasurer of
the Cypress Basin Hospice Board of Directors and as a trustee for
East Texas Baptist University, and he is active in the Mount
Pleasant Rotary Club; moreover, he is a member of the executive
board and the mission funding group for the Baptist General
Convention of Texas; and
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Dr. Davis enjoys the love and
support of his wife, Cindy, and their three children, Heather,
Rachel, and Joshua; and
WHEREAS, This inspiring clergyman has led First Baptist
Church in Mount Pleasant with conviction and compassion, and he has
earned the lasting respect and admiration of his congregants as
well as members of the greater community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Clinton L. Davis on his 25th
anniversary as pastor of First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant and
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success with his
important work; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Dr. Clinton L. Davis as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
