94 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
105 AN ACT
116 relating to a study by the Texas Department of Transportation of the
127 feasibility of certain improvements to Interstate Highway 27.
138 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
149 SECTION 1. (a) In this Act:
1510 (1) "Improvement" has the meaning assigned by Section
1611 221.001, Transportation Code.
1712 (2) "Port of entry" has the meaning assigned by
1813 Section 621.001, Transportation Code.
1914 (b) The Texas Department of Transportation shall conduct a
2015 study of the feasibility of and the costs and logistical matters
2116 associated with improvements that extend Interstate Highway 27:
2217 (1) from its southern terminus to Interstate Highway
2318 20;
2419 (2) from Interstate Highway 20 to Interstate Highway
2520 10; and
2621 (3) from Interstate Highway 10 to the port of entry
2722 located in Laredo.
2823 (c) Not later than January 1, 2019, the department shall
2924 submit a report on the results of the study to the governor, the
3025 lieutenant governor, the speaker of the house of representatives,
3126 and the presiding officer of each standing committee of the
3227 legislature with jurisdiction over transportation matters.
3328 (d) This Act expires August 31, 2019.
3429 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3530 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3631 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3732 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3833 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
