97 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
108 SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 156, Tax Code, is amended
119 by adding Section 156.155 to read as follows:
1210 Sec. 156.155. AVAILABILITY OF CERTAIN TAXPAYER
1311 INFORMATION. (a) A state agency may not post on a public Internet
1412 website information that identifies the taxable receipts of an
1513 individual business that is contained in or derived from a record,
1614 report, or other document required to be provided under this
1715 chapter.
1816 (b) Information described by Subsection (a) that is
1917 collected or maintained by a state agency is public information
2018 under Section 552.002, Government Code. A state agency shall
2119 provide access to the information in the manner provided by Chapter
2220 552, Government Code, and the exceptions under Subchapter C of that
2321 chapter do not apply to the information.
2422 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2523 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2624 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2725 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2826 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
